Number Sequence setup for Sales Invoice Posting (via a multi-threaded batch job)

Hello,

We use a multi-threaded batch job for sales invoice posting and have encountered sporadic blocking issues on the number sequence we've setup for posting. We invoice weekly and generally have around 4,000 invoices per batch. This number sequence is setup to be continuous and cleanup every 24 hours...

I'm looking for some input on whether using a non-continuous number sequence and pre-allocating 10 numbers at a time would be a good or bad idea in this scenario. I understand we would likely encounter gaps in voucher numbering if we switch to this model which could could pain from the audit and reconciliation perspective.

Can someone let me know if what we're considering is a good idea or if there is another way to overcome these blocking issues and stick to using a continuous number sequence.
