Hi
Can anyone help with the following question/ observation.
“I have a question with regard to how extensively Dynamics AX 2012 R3 Projects module encompasses Project Management methodology and the responsibilities of a Project Manager.
Typically a PM will firstly plan a project by setting up the WBS, Start Dates, End Dates, Resources and Costs in MS Project. Once the project starts, the PM will baseline the project to create a snapshot of the original plan and will, thereafter, until the project ends, enter “Actual” Start Dates, End Dates, Resources and Costs and probably modify the WBS. Comparison of the Baseline data with the Actual data during the life of the project is what enables the PM to manage the ever changing project environment and is why Microsoft Project is such a useful and powerful tool.
Having gone through the majority of available training material in Dynamics 2012 Projects, although by no means an expert, I am struggling to see how Dynamics AX handles the “in progress “ phase of a project and how it takes in “Actual” data or is the expectation that Dynamics AX should always be used with MS Project with AX handling the postings that drive Invoicing and Billing while MS Project handles the Project Management side of the endeavour. “
