Do you use AX 2012 Customer self service for wholesale customers?

Hi I'm working with our ISV to see if using the customer self service will work for our wholesale arm of the business. The current ecommerce function in AX does not allow for "non-ecart" functions. I would like to hear from other customers who have used the customer self-service function in Enterprise portal and also what licensing arrangement MUST you have for SQL 2012? Must it be Enterprise?
