Method calling from method.

Hi I am calling a method of InventSum table from the update method of InventTrans table. like this

this alert method of invent sum Sends alert.  

The problem is it is sending the notification twice, I checked the alert method in the private job and it works fine but when I put it in this update method it runs twice. seems like the update method is running twice..please help
