How to set limit text of of lookup field

I have set the "Limit Text" property to "5" of a lookup field, and set the "Limit Text Mode" to "Fixed", but I can still input more than 5 characters to the field. The setting works well in a normal text field, but not work in the lookup field. I tried in AX2012, it works well.

Does lookup field of D365FO not support the "Limit Text" property? How can I limit the input length of the lookup field?
