ax2009: Dimension Set Hierarchy - structure designer and expressions

In structure designer for dimension set hierarchy where we provide an acceptable value for a particular dimension we can use a special syntax which allows to use wildcard characters, specify range etc.

Where can I find a full list of possible expression operators (a reference or user guide) ???

Pressing F1 gives me just a short intro:

"The value of the specified dimension or ledger account. For example, stating p*, !Proj means that departments starting with p, but not Proj, should be listed in the hierarchy. The system includes those values created in expressions automatically in the dimension hierarchy instead of dragging and dropping. "

AX 2012 org hirarchies showing only root company in MR 2012

MR 2012 only displays the root company when it transfers Org hierachies to MR 2012. (or MR2012 only grasps root company for AX).

Level 2, 3, ... orgs (departments) don'T show up in MR under the root leagal entity.

Is this a known issue?

Has anyone else experienced and solved it?

AX : 2012 R2 CU1

MR : 2012 RU5

Posted Receipt List but failed Product Receipt- AX 2012

Hi;

I am stuck at the PO receipt list and can't get any further.

Running A X2012, raised a PO for an item with the following item model group settings:

Stocked, physical and financial negative inventory, post both physical and financial inventory, receiving requirements all checked.

No serial or batch tracking, blank receipts allowed down to a location.

PO raised, confirmed, and then a receipt list was generated. It did what it said on the tin: registered the quantity as physical available, PO status not changed, no posting to GL

I tried to post product receipt to no avail using the following combinations:

registered quantity: fail

ordered quantity: fail

removed registration: fail

reverse receipt the same quantity in negative (another entry in receipt list journal): fail

register again, retry: fail

invoice the PO (to skip product receipt and get down to the business): fail - require 3-point matching

Cancel the PO: fail - cancels only the quantity not egistered yet (zero)

Can anyone guide me into what I might be doing wrong, or how to proceed from there?!

ps: failed = hitting the OK button on product receipt does not generate transactions or journal entries or change the PO line status.

Limiting Business Units in Account Structure for Active Legal Entity

Hi,

Is it possible to limit the BU on the current Legal Entity without including the Legal Entity in the account number entry field.

I've tried Advanced Rules, but it seems I still have to include Legal Entity to filter on it. Is the only option to put it in the end of the structure and allow blanks?

AX 2012 R2 Label File Checkout on Server 2012

Hi,

currently we are running our AX 2012 development on Windows Server 2012 machines with AX 2012 R2 (CU1).

There seems to be a problem with checking out label files. Every time we are trying to check out the client crashes.

Is there any hotfix available for this?

AOS service not starting

Hello,

I'm getting a "Service terminated with service-specific error %%90" error with our AOS service.  I've tried to reboot the machine, I've tried net start at the command prompt, but nothing seems to work.  I've found a few articles using ax 2009 but they were not correct for 2012 R2.

Add field in Purchase Order for SSRS report that uses.

New to AX (not live yet).  I am slowly getting through road blocks on making changes to the Purchase Order report.  But there is quite a bit to come up to speed on.  Have already made changes to the form - and they work - but it is only removing fields, moving them, changing things around.  I am not sure where to go for adding the PO Payment Terms description - a field not already set up to appear on the report.  Can someone give me any hints or what to read up on?  I know I have to most likely make changes to code in a class (which I can do once I figure out how) - but like with most stuff like this, it is easy once you have done it once - but that first time can be confusing.  I am finding a dearth of information on the internet since 2012 is fairly new.  I would appreciate either the steps, or get directed to articles that can bring me up to speed.  The company 'helping' us doesn't seem to understand that we don't know what we don't know and won't point us in the correct direction unless we ask exact questions - which is hard to do when one doesn't know what to ask!  They also get paid more if they do the job for us so don't always want to teach us the details.  I am trying to see if I can figure this out faster without their help/$$.

Reserve Physical Status

Hi all, my first attempt at gettting AX help through this forum. We use AX in a manufacturing environment. We mistakenly, no one can pinpoint how, had all of our Production Orders "Released" all at once. It has obviously created an inventory nightmare for us.

It created output orders and caused parts on all of those BOM's to be reserved physical for production orders way out in the future. When shipping/receiving go to "pick" items to current job's going to be worked on it won't let them because they aren't available because of the physical reservation.

Our current workaround is very labor intensive, in cancelling picking and deleting output orders on the "mistakenly" released orders, which free's up the reservation on the individual parts. A global reset has been denied at this point for us. Just wondering if anyone had some input that might be a better way.

Can the Physical reservation be removed on the individual Part level, thus freeing it up to be picked.

Sorry for the confusing rambling question, just looking for any help at this point.

Issue - Project Hour Journal won't get created automatically while submitting Timesheet in Dynamics AX 2012 CU3

Dear Friends,

Hope you are doing good.

This post is going to be more of an issue which one of my client is facing while creating Project Hours Journal (automatically) via timesheet submission. They are on Dynamics AX 2012 (CU3 Build) - 6.0.1108.670

In Project Management and Accounting Parameters > TimeSheet parameters are set as shown below:

Now, when we submit a timesheet through Home > TimeSheets > All timesheets > Create a new timesheet, we are able to create a new timesheet line and then submit the timesheet. This is done through AX Thick Client.
The batch gets invoked, Initially the timesheet is "In Review" status and then it gets progressed to "Approved" status.
At this stage, we were expecting an hour journal to be automatically created based on the above parameter setting, but we are not able to see the Hour Journal under Projects >  Journals > Hour Journal form.
Then, we go to Unposted Timesheets under Home > TimeSheets to post the timesheet. The timesheet gets posted, but again no transaction is shown under Hour Journal, although we can see the posted transactions under Project > Manage > Posted transactions

·         Approve – Approve the timesheet. Depending on your version of the product, one of the following things happens:
o    Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012: If this is the last step in the timesheet workflow, an hour journal is automatically created for the timesheet. If you have not configured Microsoft Dynamics AX to post timesheets automatically after they have been approved, you can a view and post the hour journals in the Hour journal form in the Microsoft Dynamics AX client.
 
o    Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack or Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2: If this is the last step in the timesheet workflow, a subledger journal is automatically created for the timesheet. If you have not configured Microsoft Dynamics AX to post timesheets automatically after they have been approved, you can a view timesheets that have not been posted yet on the Unposted timesheets list page in the Microsoft Dynamics AX client.
I read the above paragraph several times and what I found interesting is that in  Dynamics Ax 2012 standard version (without any hotfixes), once the approval is completed, you can view and post the hour journals in the Hour Journal form, Whereas with the later releases of AX 2012 feature pack (CU2, CU3 etc) it creates a subledger journal and one needs to post the Journal through Unposted timesheets screen and not through hour journal. 
Can anyone please confirm if this is case? 
I did some digging around the Timesheet related classes in AOT, but I can see only a linkage in the TimeSheetPost class which is invoked when the Unposted Timesheet form is invoked other than that during the timesheet creation process, there is no calls to create a Hour Journal automatically, Maybe I'm wrong?

Printer not installed on packing slip printing

Hi,

We installed windows 7 connected to a windows 2008 64 bit server and connected a HP2205DN network printer. For some reason I cannot print anymore and if I post directly a packing slip either through the SBS print server the output is distorted and not oke, if I print directly to the printer which has always been present I also do not get a print.

I get on both sides the message "Printer not installed" although they are there. Looking up the packing slip and then printing from the screen the packing slip works on both printers.

Why AIF services required in Axapta ?

Hi THAMRIN ,

we can use the AIF services to import the data in AXAPTA .

When we have the standard functionality like  Definition groups , Data Import / Export framework 2012 and Excel Addin  to import and export the data in AX 2012 and AX 2012 R2 .

In which case we can  use the AIF services and what are the advantages to use the AIF services when compared with above mentioned tools ?

"Item not set to use size" Error Message
