Invalid printer settings

Hello.

I've had a reoccurring issue reported from a user who at the beginning of a work day while attempting to print a picking list would encounter this error.

"Settings to access printer '[printer]' are not valid."

I would clear their cache file and things would start printing again. The printer is on a valid print server and has been added to the terminal servers as well as on the AOS servers. The issue just surfaced over the last few days for one user. I don't want to get into a daily routine of having to clear his cache so i'm wondering if anyone knows of a potential cause / fix I can look into?

Time consuming problem on AX EP.

Hello,

I have EP project.

1. I connect the EP project to some elements - Everything is fine, but one of the element is AxReportViewer.

The report viewer pass a parameter to AX (by bussiness logic), so

2. It need to connect to ax by Business connector.

3. It uses business logic, and run the ax method.

4. The ax method create and returns a temporary file back to the report (table in tempdb). BTW, the file contains only about 20 records.

5. The report viewer show a graph.

6. Also, I have realized that after each change to class/table/etc and doing iisreset - that take too long time to run EP again.

That take about 10 seconds.

What can I do to improve the time that it takes?

Shall I connect each time by business connector when using method (that may take time either) - Can I connect only for the first time (The EP has an axGridView that show a list of customers, and every time I am focus on other customer, the reportviewer is refreshed, and I connect again and again by business connector)? Maybe solution is to write a service that there is always a connection and run objects dynamically (by name) - How can I do that, and does that solve a little problem of time consuming?

Licensing and Adding Privileges to a Role

I would like to add a set of privileges to a role.  I fear though that this will kick that role from a functional license to an enterprise license.  I have the list of roles and which licenses they apply to but is there a way for me to find out if adding a new duty will change the license requirement?

Exporting and Importing models

Do we drain users from an AOS(prod environment in this case) when importing model files?

I understand that draining users will take the AOS offline. However, how do I get it back up & running after import?

Hi All,

I wrote a Sysoperation service to create folders in filesystem and output SSRS reports into them.

The code for creating folders & saving reports into them is running correctly on own. But, when I try to run it in using a Sysoperation Service, I get the below error:

"Stack trace: Invalid attempt to call WinAPI.pathExists running in CIL on the client."

I am not sure whether CIL is allowed to access WinAP methods. Has anyone encountered this earlier?

validation on EP

Hello,

I have to perform certain validations on EP based on the values entered in unbound control by the user.

I also have file upload control on the form and want to validate if the file does exists on user's machine for the path he provided or not.

I am new to EP and not sure where to write this code.

How to override 'Save and Close' button click method?

Security privileges form: buttons are disabled

According to http://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/hh209366.aspx, user with system admin role should be able to modify the security privileges under

  'System administration> Setup> Security> Security privileges'.

But when I launch the form, the 'New', 'Delete' buttons are disabled.  I do have system administrator role assigned.

Anyone has any idea? Thanks a lot!

axsys.aod file

we an error once a day the says:

Error in file: \\DYNSQL\50\application\appl\LIVE\axsys.aod while

reading in record = 0

Windows error: =

Error code 64 = The specified network name is no longer available.

Try again?

Anybody ever see this error?

Anybody know what to do have any suggestions?

AX 2012 fields un retrieved on form, but are coming on table...

Hi,

I have created new fields for my customisation on Inventsum table in Ax 2012, in table browser i can put data and do any kind of manipulations i need, but i have used them on a form but they are coming up as unretrieved,

I have tried everyother work around  as proposed in this forum like sync, aos restart , adding new fields in place of them etc.. but still the display on the form is coming as unretrieved.

any body please suggest what can I do to overcome the issue,

Vendor Prepayment functionality in AX 2012

Hi All !

We are using vendor prepayment functionality in ax 2012. we are following the below steps....

- Created prepayment from Purchase order

- Posting the Prepayment Invoice: by Invoice tab in the purchase order form > click Prepayment invoice button

- processes the required prepayment: In this step we are not going to use AP > Journals > payment journal

Problem with doing this via journal entry is that purchasing manager, the one that makes the payment over the phone , doesn't have access to AP functions and we can’t give him access either.

Our requirement is that, the purchasing manager has to process the required prepayment. To get this functionality we need to setup any parameter.?

Can you please let me know how to achieve this?

second question : what is the purpose of "Prepayment Category ID" in Vendor prepayment functionality at Purchase Order.

The how to guide leaves me a bit curious as to which certificate ID I need to update in IIS with the thumbprint information... On page 6 it says Open the Certificate management console, Double Click on the Certificate ... Which one ? There are many of them and there is no "friendly name" that I recognise ... I am a technical novice and was hoping to be able to follow this guide through but alas I am stuck on this point ... any help would be appreciated

error running smmOutlookEmail.new in CIL on client

Hi Folks,

I have written code which was originally working fine in AX4 but after recoding it in AX2012 R2  the final part of the code calls the call smmOutlookEmail - to generate an email including details of a purchase order which has been coded off the back of a sales despatch note.

My issue is that all working fine until smmOutlookEmail.new is called and I get the error;

Stack trace: Invalid attempt to call smmOutlookEMail.new running in CIL on the client.

Anyone any ideas on a way round this??

Issue when invoicing PO with project

Issue connecting Dynamics AX connector for Mobile Applications

I have spent the day setting up Microsoft Dynamics AX connector for Mobile Applications and have got to the last hurdle.

I recieve the following message we trying to start the application:


"The token provider was unable to provide a security token while accessing 'https://MYAPP-sb.accesscontrol.windows.net/WRAPv0.9/'. Token provider returned message: 'The remote name could not be resolved: 'MYAPP-sb.accesscontrol.windows.net''. The remote name could not be resolved: 'MYAPP-sb.accesscontrol.windows.net'"

Any ideas?

The format of 'MYAPP-sb.accesscontrol.windows.net'" seems to be wrong because in azure the connection string has 'MYAPP.servicebus.windows.net', also there was no identity name I believe when I set this up so I have just used my domain account....

Parameter date in form

Can i create parameter date in form?

Example : If i select in from date : 10/1/2014 and i select to date 10/8/2014.

So, i can see in my grid just date between 10/1/2014 until 10/8/2014.

What can i do?

Please help me.

WBS in AX 2012 R2

Hi All

 

While defining the WBS AX is asking for the Category and in the category drop down only hour type transaction categories are visible, not showing all the categories.

 

Can anyone suggest me why it is like that in R2 as in the Feature Pack there is no such defining of the category is mandatory.

 

Please advise me and it will be appreciated if can explain me why Microsoft did like this in R2.

Changes to the document are only allowed in state Draft, because change management is activated.

Hi,

                 I created a table with relation to the PurchLine table. But somehow i could not modify the records on the table I created because the Status of the PO's are not in "Draft". It says "Changes to the document are only allowed in state Draft, because change management is activated." 

But we do not want to uncheck the change management for PO's. I just wanted to be able to modify the data in the table I created whatever the status of the PO's.

Any Ideas? Thanks In Advance

I can log in to AX 3.0 but after a few seconds it crashes

One of my companies child companies was on Axapta 3.0 SP4 KR1 about 5 years ago and has since changed ERP's and is now on NAV. The server that use to have Axapta is on the way out and right now it's only on for this company to log into Axapta when a customer needs sales history more than 5 years old, so it's not used very often. We would like to get Axapta off this server and on to another server so we can get rid of the old server that is on it's way out.

I tracked down a disc with Axapta 3.0 SP4 and installed everything on to the new server. Created a back up of the sql database and restored it to the new server. i was getting some errors at first about kernels not matching (31/30) and i figured out that i need to install kernel rollup 1 but can't find it so i changed the SYSTABVERSION to 30 in the database to bypass this just to see if i could log in. Once I did that i could get the log in screen to pop up and i'm able to use my credentials to log just like the old system. Then the menu pops up for our default company but i can't click on anything and then i get a not responding/check online for solutions box and it crashes.

We have a RDS setup with the Axapta client installed (3.0 SP4 KR1) so i changed the SYSTABVERSION back to 31 and tried logging in from there after creating a new config to point at the new server and i get the same thing. I noticed that in the lower right corner of the Axapta window it shows PC icon and a database icon and a green arrow constantly going back and forth between the 2 which i assume means it's trying to talk to the database but it's not happening? When i change the config back to the original config pointing to the old server the pc/greenarrow/database thing happens for a second and then it's done.

i figured that i should put on a trace to see what it's trying to do and from what i can tell it's constantly trying to run some stored procedures over and over. i did the trace on the working version and it only does this once.

I have zero knowledge on installing Axapta as it was installed before i worked here and at the time they hired a consultanting firm that we no longer use to install it. If you need more information i will try my best to retrieve it for you.

Error message " No lines found for post"

I've been doing some work in service centre and everything has been working well up to yesterday but today I'm getting this error message "NO LINES FOUND FOR POST". As far as I know no alterations have been made to any of the parameters. The process I have followed is no different to what I followed yesterday. Any ideas of why I should get this error now?

AX2012 R3 - Purchase agreement workflow - Work item could not be created.

Hello,

currently I got a problem to enable the purchase agreement workflow. Work items could not be assigned due to the following error message:

Stopped (error): X++ Exception: Work item could not be created. Insufficient rights for user *username*.
at SysWorkflowWorkItem-create
SysWorkflowWorkItem-createWorkItems
SysWorkflow-save
SysWorkflowQueue-resume

If I assign the "System Administrator" role to the this user everything is working fine. 

What privileges I could not give in my new role? 

I would be glad of any help. Thanks in advance.
