Currently working on really strange and annoying performance issue in a big AX 4 instance. SQL 2005 is used as a Database.
The symptoms are the following: There are certain simple operations in the system, like filtering of the SO by vendor, or filtering of the customer by name....
The first such executed query suffers from performance degradation and the form/system hangs, sometimes for a minute, sometimes for even more....
After the system responses - when the user runs the same filtering - it's instant. (as it should be)
Then it works like that for some period of time - and after a while (say for example 1-2 hours), when user opens the same Customer form and run the same filter - the same behavior - first execution: Hanging for a minute or more - next times fast.
When activating the long running query trace in AX - of course this slowness is reflected, once I face the slowness and system hangs - there is an entry in the trace table.
If analyzing the query itself, by using the query analyzer, or just running it in the Management studio - of course the execution is instant and the query itself is not a bottleneck.
Also after trying to run it on isolated environments, using separate AOS & Client - same issue is faced. So that proves it's not a AOS or AX client tier.
I have a feeling something is related to the SQL itself or at least in the way how AOS is communicating with it.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or analyze this are highly appreciated.
